Yesterday at Discovery Time we all had a turn at playing in the new sandpit.
Here we are building sand castles and then digging way down to the bottom of the sandpit to see what was at the bottom. We found out that the bottom was a grey colour and looked like concrete!!

Cricket Coaching
Today we had the Milo Cricket Skills Coaches helping us to learn lots of things about how to catch and throw a ball and how to run fast for playing cricket. We had lots of turns and lots of fun learning to to do new things. At the end we all got a special prize for trying so hard and doing well.

Room Two's Garden
Today we decided what to plant in our garden. We made a list and then we went to the Garden Section of New World and bought the plants and seeds to put in the garden. When we got back we went to our garden and planted them!
We have got spinach, carrots, peas, green beans and golden beans, lettuce, broccoli and strawberries in the garden now.
We gave some of our plants and seeds to Room Three for their garden as we had too many plants and seeds to go into our garden.
We are going to take good care of our garden and watch as the seeds and plants grow.
We hope they do well and we will be able to eat what we grow later on in the year and even next year.
While we were planting the garden a tui came to watch us, sitting in the tree near to Room Three's garden.

Gymnastics
We have been doing Gymnastics for the last 4 weeks.
We start by warming up and then doing stretching exercises. Then we learn to do forward rolls, walk along the beam, jump up onto the box horse and practise landing properly from the bouncer. We also practise balancing positions on the floor. We really like trying hard and we are all pretty good at doing all the things. We have gymnastics in the Hall and the big Sports Squad buddies set out all the equipment for us.

Drama with Mel
Today we had our second drama experience with Melanie Dodge, the 'Artist in Residence' who has come to our school to give us some special drama sessions. We really enjoyed pretending to be lots of different sea creatures and following Mel who took us on a swimming voyage around the Hall.
Last time she was here we went on an imaginary trip to the beach with her. Mel also taught us a funny action song at the end of our time about a washer woman in the jungle!

World of Maths 12 August
Today we went to the Hall and tried out lots of fun games that were called World of Maths. We went around the Hall in our groups with a big buddy and tried to do the games. There were 17 games to try and they covered lots of maths ideas, from spacial ideas to adding and logic games. Here are some photos of us trying them out.

Music with Andrew
On Thursday afternoons we have Music with Andrew. We join with Room One and learn lots of interesting things about beat and rhythm as well as some cool songs. The photos show us learning about crotchets and quavers and rests and then we clapped the correct rhythm. We all had a turn using chime bars this week and keeping to the rhythm. We even learned how to play tripplets! We were all very good at it! It sounded cool too.
